Main Street Wolfville is located at the 45th degree of latitude. So too are some of the world’s most renowned wine growing regions. At the 45th latitude, Wolfville is in good company with friends like Bordeaux, Lombardy and Piedmont, to name a few. Perhaps then, it’s no coincidence that Wolfville’s spirit has been enhanced by its emerging wine industry, and culture. Wolfville also shares the 45th degree of latitude with the global capital of design, Milan Italy. We drew great interior and exterior design inspiration from Milan, long before we’d ever considered its coordinates. Milan is chic and sophisticated, yet steeped in culture, and history – forces that often oppose, but not in this case. Wolfville, in its own way, represents a parallel. It’s a town that’s rich in history and culture, yet open to innovation and improved ways of living, working and playing. That’s something special, and something to celebrate.
Latitude 45 is more than an address, or a spot on the map – it’s where communities come together, and life is enhanced. Whatever your reason for coming, and no matter how long you stay, you’ll know you’ve arrived as Willow Park, Latitude 45 Suites and the gateway to Main Street Wolfville greet you.
Where it all Began…
We’ve been walking the streets of Wolfville since 1973. While the street scape has evolved over the years, our love of Wolfville has remained constant. My children and I have spent some of our fondest years and built many enduring friendships on Main Street Wolfville.
I was an eager 18-year old from Gunningsville, New Brunswick, and I decided to study at Acadia University, having never stepped foot in the town of Wolfville. I’m happy to say it turned out to be one of the best life decisions I’ve ever made. I graduated in 1976 and went on to raise my family and establish my career in the Halifax area. When my children were old enough to begin thinking about post-secondary education, I started regularly bringing them to Wolfville, hoping they’d develop an interest in Acadia and the community. Both of my children ultimately went on to attend Acadia, creating memories that they now share with their families during regular weekend visits; something that makes me very proud as a father and grandfather.
As the years passed, our urge to develop something special in the town that had left a big impact, grew stronger. For many years, we kept a careful eye on the right opportunity. In 2012, we knew we’d discovered it: what would become the future site of Latitude 45 Suites…we just didn’t know it yet. We secured the property, and for two years envisioned what could be created on it. It was becoming clearer with every visit: Wolfville needed a spectacular building where existing and new community members could live, work and play.
The building needed to maximize its stunning natural surroundings and blend with Wolfville’s existing street scape, while also containing innovative amenities and featuring forward-thinking design. Wolfville was on the cusp of change, and we had a clear vision for a development that would help advance the charge.
To us, Latitude 45 is more than a building: it’s a destination, and a place where great things happen. The utmost care and consideration have gone into every phase of the design and build process. We’ve strived to design a building that will age gracefully, and positively shape the gateway to our favourite town for decades to come. We’ve listened, we’ve iterated, and we’ve attempted to anticipate the future needs of Latitude 45 residents and guests.
